Air-Cooled Handheld Laser Welding Machine

The handheld laser welding machine is one of the most popular and practical types of laser welding equipment. It is widely favored by customers of all sizes for its convenience and efficiency. Shanghai Runqia Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. takes laser welding machines as one of its flagship products, alongside laser polishing machines, laser cleaning machines and other models for customers to select according to actual processing needs.

Laser welding applied in handheld laser welders uses high-energy laser pulses to perform localized heating on tiny areas of materials. The energy of laser radiation diffuses into the material interior through heat conduction, melting the material to form a specific molten pool.

As a new welding method, handheld laser welding is mainly designed for welding thin-walled materials and precision parts. It supports spot welding, butt welding, lap welding, seal welding and other processes. Featuring a high depth-to-width ratio, narrow weld seam, small heat-affected zone and minimal workpiece deformation, it delivers fast welding speed with smooth and aesthetic welds. Little or no post-weld treatment is required. The weld quality is excellent with zero porosity. The process allows precise parameter control with a tiny focused spot and high positioning accuracy, making it easy to realize automatic production.

Filler metal is generally not required, so the fit clearance between parts should be less than 15% of the thinnest part thickness. Workpieces must be kept relatively clean, as the welding speed is too fast to burn away impurities during processing.

Welding of most active metals with handheld laser welding machines requires shielding gas, while many alloys can be welded directly in atmospheric conditions. Thermal energy input and weld spot profile can be adjusted through process parameters and hardware configuration, enabling welding in heat conduction mode, full penetration mode and keyhole mode respectively.

Heat conduction welding achieves shallow penetration with a relatively wide fusion zone, presenting a weld profile similar to GTAW/TIG welding. It is commonly used for small components, hardware tools, and electronic products such as relay shells and batteries, which require smooth and visually appealing weld joints.

Full penetration welding features a penetration depth equal to or slightly greater than the weld width. With low heat input, it forms a small yet deep molten pool and can operate at lower average power.

Keyhole welding requires continuous or super-mode continuous lasers to maintain a stable keyhole throughout the welding cycle. It achieves an ultra-high depth-to-width ratio up to 6:1 with high processing efficiency.

Pulsed, continuous and super-mode continuous lasers can all operate under heat conduction mode. Continuous lasers support full penetration mode, while only super-mode continuous lasers are applicable for keyhole welding.
